After dedicating years to the low-budget film industry, Reeves is presented with a golden opportunity to elevate his acting career. However, this choice forces him into a challenging dilemma—whether to leave his hometown and take the risk of moving away, leaving behind family and friends. Aware that his career trajectory would eventually demand relocation, Reeves decides to make the leap and moves to Los Angeles, where he promptly receives numerous offers for movie roles.

Back in his hometown, the only friend who maintains contact with him is his best friend, Abbie. She finds herself trapped in a physically and mentally abusive relationship, prompting her to take a break from her daily life by visiting Reeves. During their time together, Reeves and Abbie reassess their relationship statuses. Abbie grapples with the decision of whether to stay with her current boyfriend, while simultaneously encouraging Reeves to seek the partner he is meant to have. They part ways as Abbie’s visit concludes, watching Reeves perform a scene on a movie set.

Several months later, Reeves, engrossed in another movie project, learns from his manager Zach and lifelong friend about Abbie’s severe physical assault at the hands of her now-fiancé. Reacting impulsively, Reeves publicly confronts Abbie’s fiancé, resulting in a downturn in his career. He returns home, stumbling upon Abbie’s wedding invitation sent before the assault. Despite the challenges, Reeves and Abbie maintain daily communication.

As Reeves and Zach prepare for a significant award night, Zach discovers Abbie’s wedding invitation with a handwritten note confessing Reeves’s love. Uncertain about its significance, Zach decides to mail it to Abbie. On the night of the awards ceremony, as Reeves contemplates his rapid success, Zach grows concerned about his absence and gives him a call. Reeves reveals that just before leaving, Abbie arrived, holding the wedding invitation with his heartfelt confession.

Facing each other, Reeves and Abbie realize they must decide whether to remain friends, part ways, or explore a romantic relationship. Regardless of the chosen path, the revelation in the letter leaves them with the understanding that their relationship has now become “It’s Complicated.”
